How to optimize your onboarding for new developers with GitHub Copilot Enterprise

Our client, a well-known banking institution in Chile, faced the challenge of optimize your onboarding process for new developers. Until the arrival of CleverIt, the process could take from 3 weeks to 2 months, being a manual flow, with scattered information and prone to human error. This generated a delay in the operability of developers joining the customer's team.

In addition to this, greater efficiency was sought in evolutionary improvements and in the adoption of new technologies, to maintain the quality and speed of their digital services.

To improve the onboarding process, we designed a Proof of Concept (PoC) that would allow us to implement GitHub Copilot Enterprise in the flow, set up an initial environment with information such as guides or wikis, and train administrators in the use of the tool. In addition, This PoC would provide evaluation of metrics such as time of adoption of GitHub Copilot Enterprise and the learning curve, in order to validate their efficiency in the team.

We worked with 20 technical profiles of our client, who worked in different development cells within the organization. Microsoft's role as a supplier of GitHub Copilot Enterprise was key, as they were enabled active licenses for 30 days for the execution of this Proof of Concept. CleverIT, meanwhile, provided all the technical knowledge and support in configuring the tool to facilitate its adoption by the client.

The client obtained satisfactory results, with a successful Proof of Concept and where he highlighted the “significant support and continuous support of CleverIT during the process, which turned this experience into valuable learning for the team, which had never carried out an installation of this type”.

In addition, the following specific milestones were achieved:
